1st day's efforts gather $500

Students appreciate SUB food

by Tamara Gaskill Daily Lobo By 12:30 p.m. Thursday, there were more than 25 people waiting in line to get their Chinese food fix at the SUB. Angela Gonzales was one student waiting in the long line outside Miso, the SUB's Chinese restaurant. She said having Chinese food at the SUB drew her there.

Shortcuts mean more maintenance

Taking a shortcut to class can create headaches for groundskeepers at UNM. "When one or two people do it it's OK," said Dave Trujillo, supervisor of grounds and landscaping at Physical Plant. "But when 100 to 500 students cut across each day, it compacts the turf and the soil.

Food for thought ---- literally

by Tamara Gaskill Daily Lobo Shelley Rael, a senior clinical nutritionist at UNM, said it is important for students to have healthy eating habits. "Eat something before going to class, and do not skip meals or go any more than three or four hours without eating," she said.

Research labs make scientists sweat

by Tamara Gaskill Daily Lobo Scott Sibbett said working in a 90-degree laboratory last summer could have been detrimental to his experiments. "It was really affecting the experiments because we're working with these little tiny chips and we have fluids in there," Sibbett said.

SUB to bring in noodles, sushi

by Katy Knapp and Tamara Gaskill Daily Lobo Noodles and sushi will be replacing smoothies this fall in the SUB. Miso, which specializes in Oriental noodles and sushi, will be moving into the space Zia Juice occupied.
