Director finalist shares ideas

Doralia Freudiger, the last of four candidates for the director of UNM's Office of Equal Opportunity, told University officials Thursday that she would use her ability and expertise to change the office for the better. "I have the skills and I will put them to use at UNM," Freudiger said.

Rally advocates human rights

Advocates of human rights and policy reform in Colombia declared during a rally outside the UNM Bookstore Friday that the continued U.S. military presence in Colombia is harming, not helping, its citizens. "Giving military aid to a country in a civil war is like throwing kerosene on a fire," said Francine Cronshaw, founder of the Colombia Solidarity Committee of New Mexico.

Horse tests positive for West Nile in North Valley

In an announcement made yesterday at the Duck Pond, Rudy Bueno, Albuquerque environmental health supervisor, said that a horse in the North Valley has tested positive for the West Nile Virus. The confirmation makes Bernalillo County the eleventh county to report the presence of the virus in horses.

Regents begin moving on presidential search

The regents established a tentative timetable as well as criteria for the selection committee that will determine the next University president.
