ABQ welcomes crafts market for the first time

The Traditional Winter Spanish Market is coming to Old Town this weekend in celebration of 25 years of traditional arts and entertainment. The event, typically held in Santa Fe Plaza, will be held for the first time in Albuquerque and is an offshoot of the larger Summer Spanish Market.

Fresh talent impresses Lobos

After more than two hours of dancing, a cappella performances and numerous vocal harmonies, freshman Ricky Garcia arose from the crowd to collect a top prize of $500 at the Sixth annual Lobo’s Got Talent (LGT) Friday night. Garcia, 18, is a vocal performer and he said he wasn’t sure he was going to participate until about two hours before the application deadline.

Politics on parade for Day of the Dead

A celebration usually full of rejoice and remembrance of loved ones was riddled with politically influenced floats this weekend. Floats in this year’s Marigold Parade, which took place Sunday, included those from schools such as Del Norte High School, Erne Pyle Middle School and New Mexico International School.

Albuquerque International Sunport has been declared by USA Today to have one of the top 20 airport art collections in the nation. The final decision for the top 10 airport art collections has been placed in the public’s hands until Nov 11.
