Lorena Olmos, new president of GPSA, said she will work to ensure that UNM's graduate and professional students' concerns are voiced this year ASUNM president Jennifer Onuska said she plans to expand her role as undergraduate student body president to include more communication with the students.

Science and Technology companies celebrate 10 years

Representatives from UNM and Sandia National Laboratories gathered Wednesday to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Advanced Materials Laboratory, a center for collaborative research in technical developments. The laboratory offers an environment for UNM students and faculty to work with Sandia members, allowing accessible space and equipment for both institutions.

Cooling plant will receive $55 million renovation

The UNM Physical Plant, which is responsible for the operation and maintenance of facilities, will renovate a 50-year-old cooling plant to improve the reliability of utilities on campus. The construction will be the beginning of a five-year project and is budgeted at $55 million.

Nursing college seeks more funds

The American Nurses Association's prediction that up to 40 percent of the nursing workforce will retire after 2010 is forcing the UNM College of Nursing to seek additional legislative funding to increase enrollment.

Hibben Center nearly finished

Deceased former UNM professor Frank Hibben left evidence of his passion for archaeology through his contribution to the development of the Hibben Archaeological Center, which is slated to be completed by the fall semester.
