Project to promote use of alternative transportation

With gas prices expected to reach $4 a gallon this summer, UNM students can look to public transportation to get around. Students at the Anderson School of Management set up an advertising agency to encourage 18- to 25-year-olds to use greener transportation in a project called My Other Ride.

Event to raise money for cancer research

After a pickup game of basketball one afternoon, UNM student Marcus Bustos' life was changed forever. He was sore and weak after the game, and the pain didn't fade. He visited a doctor and had blood work done. The spring of his freshman year, Bustos was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.

Rep. Steve Pearce met with students in the National Society of Black Engineers pre-college program Saturday. Pearce talked about the importance of using education to rise to the top in a forum discussion at UNM. Pearce asked students why it's important to get an education, what they were going to do with it and how they're working on achieving it.
