The New Mexico baseball team’s focus wasn’t entirely on in-state rival New Mexico State on Wednesday. The Lobos managed to demolish the Aggies 13-6 on a blustery day at Lobo Field, even with a critical Mountain West Conference series at Nevada this weekend on their minds.

Of the eight bands that competed at UNM’s seventh annual battle of the bands on Thursday, the winner almost didn’t perform. The Lymbs, which consists of guitarist/vocalist Gage Bickerstaff and drummer Jeff Bell, wasn’t initially in love with the idea of competing.

At the Board of Regents’ annual budget summit Tuesday, regents approved a measure to allot a $900,000 increase in student fee money for Athletics for the fiscal year starting in July. The Daily Lobo asked students for their reactions to the increase.

The New Mexico baseball team cannot afford to lose any ground in the Mountain West Conference standings. The Lobos are now tied with San Diego State for first place in the conference with identical 17-16 (8-4 MWC) records.
