Editor, While I agree with Brad Lord-Leutwyler that, for the most part, sports celebrities are not to be mistaken for heroes and that his letter should serve as a call to arms against Webster’s Dictionary — the editors advocate the synonomy of ‘ensure’ and ‘insure’ — I cannot deny the rage that springs from reading his Feb. 22 column.

Women’s Tennis Fresh off a four-game road swing, the UNM women’s tennis team returns home for matches against Montana State University today at 5 p.m. and Colorado University Saturday at 5 p.m. Both matches will be played at the UNM Tennis Club.

Coming into the season, the UNM baseball team had high expectations placed on it, with several polls picking it to finish second in the Mountain West Conference. But an early-season slump has the Lobos concerned about reaching some of their goals.

Fledgling peer group seeks student support

Members of Students Educating Peers About Sex are seeking support to keep the student organization afloat because the Student Health Center cut all ties with the group Feb. 10. UNM student Jeremy Jaramillo, Students Educating Peers About Sex president, accused representatives of the Student Health Center of forcefully taking over the program, firing employees and unfairly removing it from its health center offices. “They were taking over all of our daily activities, changing all our forms, changing our recruitment forms, changing our mission and we were compromising a lot with them,” he said.
