Pro-Reynalds letters scarce on Daily Lobo Opinion page

Editor, I have to ask Kristina Scott, Richard Fagerlund and all the others who write the to the Daily Lobo with a clear anti-Christian bias — why does the term “bigot” not apply to you? Why are Christians somehow not part of the diverse population? And I also notice that there is a clear dearth of letters supporting Mr. Reynalds whenever I read the Lobo, so I have to ask the Lobo editor — do you only print anti-Reynalds letters, or are those the only ones you get?

Reynalds’ needs accountability

Editor, Once again this week, the opinion page is full of responses — largely negative ones — to Jeremy Reynalds’ most recent column. Not only that, but the responses are more often keyed not to Reynalds’ particular issue for the week but to the Daily Lobo’s readers’ frustrations that Reynalds’ column seems to have little to do with UNM or with their lives in particular.

Spring Crawl worth the money

The best thing about turning 21 years old in Albuquerque isn’t just that you can legally enter bars, it’s that, twice a year, you can pay $10 to enter all the downtown bars and hear lots of good bands when the Weekly Alibi holds its local music festival.

Gooding’s eclectic style hits Santa Fe

SANTA FE — On Friday night, a screen flashed behind Gooding accompanying his funky guitar riffs with footage of bugs crawling back and forth, bobbing ostrich heads and grape Kool–Aid swirling in a glass pitcher. Occasionally, Gooding stood in front of the projector, placing his own silhouette on the screen.

New baseball stadium will benefit entire city

Editor, In writing his April 25 letter “Arguments in favor of baseball stadium flawed,” Adam Collingsworth attempts to raise the point that “many people ... do not care for baseball and will never be affected by the existence or lack of a stadium.” It is this kind of selfish thinking that contributes to the lack of growth in Albuquerque.

Classes, cell phones don’t mix

Students and faculty say it’s hard to escape the ringing and gabbing that comes with cell phones on campus, and some professors are trying to quiet the noise in their classes. UNM student Daniel DePaula sat outside of Mitchell Hall yesterday pressing buttons on his cell phone. He said he doesn’t really need the phone, but it helps him to get in touch with people and “find the skinny” on parties.

Letter criticizing Earth Day hasty, uninformed

Editor, I am compelled to make a few statements regarding Michael Carrasco’s April 26 letter to the editor, “Earth Day Should be Renamed Human’s Day.” The letter was an attack on environmentalists and the conservation movement and was an uninformed opinion.

UNM pitchers lead team with infallible play

Going into this weekend’s series against the Air Force Academy, the UNM baseball team could not fault the starting pitching for its seven-game losing streak. It had come up with some strong performances during that stretch, only to see them go to waste.
