Nashville Pussy: purveyors of ‘boogie punk’

Nashville Pussy — the name screams rock ‘n’ roll. And it should, since the band got it from a stage rap on one of Ted Nugent’s ’70s live albums. Actually, it screams raunch ‘n’ roll, which is the best description of the group’s metallic music — from its 1996 debut Let Them Eat Pussy up to its most recent release, Say Something Nasty.

LETTER: Vouchers are cure to N.M.’s education ills

Editor, The U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled school vouchers constitutional. Now the state Legislature has no excuse for pouring more money into the pit that our public schools have become. Why is it that government is so willing to spend endless amounts of money on programs that no longer live up to expectation? It’s the same old mentality; if it’s broke, throw more money at it.

COLUMN: Students see ‘values’ differently

by Douglas Turner Knight Ridder-Tribune WASHINGTON — The war on terrorism has not grabbed the hearts and minds of America’s college crowd, that is, if you accept the findings of a poll by a Republican pollster for a GOP-backed action group. One can infer from the survey that a large segment of collegians don’t hold the same passions for what are described as “American values” or “Western culture” that some important people here do.
