Aggies steal 59-58 victory in Las Cruces

by Lee Cornell Daily Lobo The UNM basketball team led its intrastate rivals for nearly 40 minutes on Saturday night but ultimately let the game slip away, losing 59-58 to the New Mexico State Aggies. Senior guard Ruben Douglas had the ball stolen from him as he drove to the basket with less than 30 seconds left in the game and a one point Lobo lead.

Staff Report The UNM men's soccer team's dream season came to an end Wednesday in St. Louis, as it lost 1-0 to 18th-ranked St. Louis University. The Lobos (18-4-0) lost to a ranked opponent in the second round of the NCAA Men's College Cup tournament for the second consecutive year.

UNM sex study focuses on Santa Fe High School

Staff Report A first-ever study examining the psychological processes of adolescents confronted with sex and birth control issues will be the focus of a UNM College of Nursing study. Results from the study will be used to help reduce the number of unintended teenage pregnancies.

Cowboys receive Moore than they ever bargained for

The Univeristy of Wyoming got more than it bargained for as freshman running back DonTrell Moore scored five of the Lobos' seven touchdowns in a 49-20 beating of the Cowboys Saturday. "DonTrell played very well," Head coach Rocky Long said. "As he has the last three or four weeks.

Forest stands tall in UNM wins

The UNM women's basketball team got a full weekend out of forward junior Melissa Forest, winning two games to take the Holiday Inn Mountain View Classic title. Forrest, who is from Hobbs, N.M., and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, scored 12 points Friday in the Lobos' 79-61 come-from-behind win over William & Mary College.

UNM is once again using campus tours to recruit minority high school students from around the state. Next week, UNM will bring American Indian high school students from around the state to campus to pitch UNM as their destination for higher education. UNM's American Indian Student Day, Dec.

Despite the title, "Loco Fever," the latest movie from Chilean filmmaker AndrÇs Woods, does have a love story going. No, really. I know what you're thinking. Latino movie, Spanish with subtitles, "loco" and "fever" in the title -- it'll be a sexual romp that makes "Y Tu Mama TambiÇn" look like an ABC Afternoon Special.

Suicidal man disarmed

Some quick thinking and bold action by UNM police and officers from other law enforcement agencies disarmed a man near campus who was threatening to kill himself with a loaded .357 Magnum handgun Thursday night. There were no injuries in the incident after Todd Reed, 37, reportedly arrived at UNM Hospital with the handgun and repeatedly threatened to kill himself.
