COLUMN: America should rebuild Iraq

Staff Editorial The Crimson White (U. Alabama) (U-WIRE) TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — With the invasion of Iraq seemingly inevitable, an important question is what happens when the fight is over? America cannot afford to continue its less-than-stellar track record of state building when the time comes to rebuild Iraq.

LETTER: Barbara’s cookies could cure her son

Editor, I believe our president is ill. I believe him to be of failing health, both, physically and mentally. How else can one justify his current international actions? As a parent and son, I strongly believe in “a mother’s love” as a form of healing.

Fan loyalties silence artists' opinions

What is the artist's role in today's society, especially in the United States after Sept. 11 and now the war with Iraq? I don't know and it seems to me that many artists don't really know either. Art can be political, social, economical, environmental, personal or all of the above, but what can artists do in a time when nothing about the future is certain? While watching the 75th Annual Academy Awards, the most widely recognized awards ceremony on Earth, I was soon consumed by the thought of whether any of the artists being honored would speak out about the war, especially with the backlash that occurred after lead singer of the Dixie Chicks, Natalie Maines, spoke her mind about President Bush.

Jucifer new brand of musical blends

The M.C. Hammer mentality that says a music group needs more than 10 members to succeed doesn't apply to the rock/metal/grunge duo Jucifer. In fact, the two, who are actually a married couple, do just fine on their own. Their new album I Name You Destroyer proves exactly that.

COLUMN: Gaining trust of Iraqis not easy

COLUMN: Media labels war protesters

by Jen Kosakowski Daily Targum (Rutgers U.) (U-WIRE) NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — It has become increasingly obvious to me in recent weeks that there has been a surge in writings that vilify and invalidate the anti-war activist. There has never been much tolerance for dissent in this nation, but the proliferation and escalation of such rhetoric and its attempts to disengage anti-war activists should be questioned.
