Suspect in UNM area shooting charged

Police have charged 56-year-old Thomas Newsome, a man they believe to be homeless, with murder for the shooting death of Eric Hunter, 39, at the Mail Boxes Etc. across from campus Tuesday. A witness to the incident reportedly told police Newsome was crossing the intersection at Yale Boulevard and Central Avenue when he pointed a handgun at Hunter, who was driving by in his white Ford minivan.

I am part of a majority group — a heterosexual Anglo male, though I was born into the lower class. I knew that to ascend social class, I would have to do well in school and get a good education to get a good job.

Jacque Garcia If Jacque Garcia, a member of the Vision slate, is elected to the ASUNM senate, one of her top priorities will be bringing ideas from the UNM community back to the student government for implementation, she said. Garcia, a freshman majoring in psychology, said getting the word out about the Associated Students of UNM is crucial to the organization’s effectiveness.
