Facebook quizzes leak user info

With more than 132 million unique visitors in 2008, Facebook is considered to be the world’s leading social networking site (during the same year, MySpace had a mere 117 million unique visitors). And, in terms of Internet traffic, some rank Facebook as the planet’s fourth busiest Web site.

Third of budget goes to granny

Facts and figures about the national government’s deficit are often cited, but few understand the burden these shortfalls place on our generation. Whenever a government’s expenses exceed revenue, it makes up the deficit by selling bonds. Businesses suffer when investors buy government debt instead of investing in future productivity, and taxpayers ­— who pay back the debt plus interest — face an even higher bill. The deficit will be about $1.58 trillion in this fiscal year, according to official projections.

Texting-ban bill too heavy-handed

Our fast-paced society appeared seemingly overnight. In a span of only a few years, the world collapsed: Suddenly anyone and anything was attainable on little more than a whim. This explosive, or implosive, societal change wasn’t without its share of growing pains: Internet stalkers, phishing scams, Nigerian princes, Y2K, “I Love You” e-mails, poorly planned software “updates” and countless other problems that appeared over time.

Want to live longer? As it turns out, we may have the answer. A report in the last issue of Science showed a dramatic difference between the life span of two different sets of rhesus monkeys in a 20-year study.
