On Thursday, April 3, the Albuquerque Isotopes played the Salt Lake Bees for the third game in the series. Both teams battled for the win, which led to a fairly close game with a 5-3 Salt Lake win. This loss marked the second for the Isotopes in the series.
It was a tough 15-1 loss for the Isotopes on Tuesday, April 1, but they quickly recovered for Wednesday's game, winning 17-2. Thursday’s game was a challenge for both teams and it was tough to make runs, making the game one of the longest in the series so far.
In the first inning, the Isotopes had a solid start, scoring one run. They followed that up with good plays in field.
In the second inning, however, the Bees scored two runs, leading the Isotopes by 1. Both teams held each other off for most of the innings, with the Bees scoring at least one run every few innings. The Isotopes made one last run in the eighth inning; they trailed 4-3 going into the ninth.
With hopes of flipping the game around in the ninth, both teams changed up their pitchers. This did not seem to make a difference for the Isotopes, considering the Bees were able to score one last run before ultimately finishing the game with a 5-3 victory.
The Albuquerque Isotopes are now tied for third place in the Pacific Coast League’s east division, with a record of 2-4 in the first half of the season. The outcome of this series will further see the placement of the Isotopes in the division.
