The University of New Mexico men’s and women’s basketball teams secured another debut in the Mountain West Tournament this year, which may prompt fans to take advantage of “Lobos in Las Vegas,” a discounted travel option.
The trip will take place March 12-15 and includes round-trip transportation with a three-night stay at Excalibur Hotel & Casino. Fans will trek through the desert on chartered Paradise Tours buses on their way to support Lobo basketball.
The trip started with longtime fan Bobby Aragon, and it has been a tradition since 2010.
“This is about bringing the Lobo family together,” Aragon said. “We’ve followed the team all over for the NCAA Tournament: San Jose, Portland, Salt Lake City, even Memphis last year. It’s a long trip, but worth it to support the Lobos.”
Student discounts and The Howl Raisers
Aragon has consistently offered discounted rates for UNM students.
This year, the student group known as The Howl Raisers secured 100 free student tickets for the tournament.
“Fan support is huge,” Aragon said. “The Howl Raisers bring the energy our team thrives on, especially on the road.”
Students can book a round-trip bus ticket for a discounted price of $200, or a package including both transportation and hotel accommodations for $425.
Trip details and booking information
The bus will depart from Park & Shuttle at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12. The deadline to reserve a seat is Sunday, March 9.
If the Lobos qualify for the NCAA Tournament, additional travel options may be offered.
