On Nov. 27, the results of the 2024 election were certified in New Mexico, according to Source New Mexico. Below is a look at the final results for various races.
Presidential
Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris won New Mexico's five electoral votes. She surpassed Republican President-elect Donald Trump with 52% of the votes, or about 55,000 more votes — a 6% lead over Trump, according to the New Mexico Secretary of State website.
While Trump did not win the state of New Mexico by popular or electoral votes, support for Trump rose throughout New Mexico compared to previous elections.
This election, Trump gained support in 30 out of New Mexico’s 33 counties, according to The Associated Press.
In 2016, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton won New Mexico with 48% of the votes, or about 66,000 more votes — an 8% lead over Trump, according to the New Mexico SOS website. In 2020, President Joe Biden won New Mexico by 54%, or about 100,000 more votes — an 11% lead over Trump.
Democrat-majority counties along the Rio Grande corridor — including Doña Ana, Santa Fe and Bernalillo Counties — saw an increase in support for Trump, according to AP.
Congressional
In the race for a seat in the United States Senate to represent New Mexico, incumbent Sen. Martin Heinrich (D) was challenged by Nella Domenici (R). Heinrich won with 55% of the votes, or about 91,000 more votes, according to the New Mexico SOS website.
In the 2nd Congressional District race, incumbent Rep. Gabe Vasquez (D) was reelected to his position in a swing House seat.
Vasquez won against Yvette Herrell (R) with 52%, or about 11,000 more votes, according to the New Mexico SOS website.
Support for Vasquez increased compared to 2022, when he won by just over 1,000 votes — less than 1% — against then-incumbent Herrell, according to the New Mexico SOS website.

Incumbents Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D) and Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández (D) ran against Republican challengers Steve Jones and Sharon Clahchischilliage, respectively, in less competitive elections for New Mexico’s other two House seats.
Stansbury and Leger Fernandez each won 56% of the votes in their respective elections.
This year, 67% of eligible voters voted in New Mexico, compared to 52% during the 2022 midterms, according to the New Mexico SOS website.
State
In the state Senate, Republican candidates Jay Block and Gabriel Ramos won open seats previously occupied by Democrats, according to Source New Mexico.
One Republican seat flipped Democrat: Sen. Joshua Sanchez will be replaced by Sen. Angel Charley, according to Source NM.
In the New Mexico House of Representatives, Rep. Tara Jaramillo (R) lost her race to Rebecca Dow (R), according to Source NM. Until the 2026 elections, the New Mexico House will consist of 44 Democrats and 26 Republicans.
