From Monday, Sept. 16 through Sunday, Sept. 29, there were 39 individual entries of crimes reported on or near the University of New Mexico campus that were entered into its daily crime log.
There was also a criminal trespass citation issued at Marron Hall, where the Daily Lobo newsroom resides. The incident occurred on Sept. 29 and was not entered into the crime log as of the morning of Monday, Sept. 30.
Two LoboAlerts were sent to the campus community. One LoboAlert was issued on Sept. 17 notifying the campus community of a Campus Warning Siren System test after the fact. A second alert was issued on Sept. 22 detailing a stabbing that was later entered into the crime log.
Twenty-one of the crimes were entered into the crime log during the week of Sept. 16. Eighteen were entered during the week of Sept. 23.
Stabbing at Lobo Village
On Sept. 21, the UNM Police Department responded to a stabbing at Lobo Village. The suspect was arrested that night, and a LoboAlert was issued to the campus community one hour after UNMPD responded to the scene.
Suspect drops off gunshot wound victim and flees
On the early morning of Sept. 15, UNMPD received a call from security at UNM Hospital about a man who had been dropped off from a truck at the emergency room with a gunshot wound to his head. The victim was later pronounced dead, according to the police report for the incident.
The driver drove away after dropping the victim off. The driver was not located as of the time the UNMPD report was written.
The incident was entered into the crime log on Sept. 17.
Arson at The Pit
On Sept. 14, UNMPD was dispatched to The Pit basketball arena at South Campus in reference to a fire.

The building manager for The Pit showed UNMPD video footage of two men “acting in a suspicious manner” in the loading dock area, according to the police report for the incident.
The incident was entered into the crime log on Sept. 17.
Threat at Lobo Rainforest
On Thursday, Sept. 26, a man at Lobo Rainforest said he was going to kill someone. The incident occurred after a verbal altercation, according to the crime log.
Robbery and arrest at G-Lot
On Sept. 16, UNMPD was dispatched to G-Lot on North Campus, where a man had reportedly stolen car keys from a medical student, according to the police report for the incident. The victim told police that the man had forcibly taken them from her hand.
Police found the suspect running on Indian School Road. He fled and was later detained. The victim told police that she had not been threatened verbally or physically and that the suspect did not have a weapon.
Suspect flees from UNMPD
On Sept. 27, a man fled from officers in a vehicle that had no license plate. It also had an altered Vehicle Identification Number, according to the crime log. The incident was recorded at Yale Parking Structure.
Criminal damage/graffiti
There were seven listed instances of criminal damage/graffiti entered into the crime log. Three of the instances involved broken windows, and the other four instances involved damage to vehicles.
Battery and harassment
There were two listed instances of simple battery, one of battery on a health care worker and three instances of harassment.
Theft
There were six instances of auto burglary, 11 instances of larceny, two instances of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and one instance of shoplifting entered into the crime log.
Auto burglary occurs when a car is broken into, and larceny is theft of personal property, according to CriminalDefenseLawyer. Two of the larceny incidents resulted in arrests.
Editor’s note: The crimes listed were entered into the daily crime log during the time period mentioned. The list includes crimes that police entered during that period but allegedly occurred before that. It does not include crimes that may have occurred but weren’t entered into the log.
