Uncontested flood control election

This year's Flood Control District 5 director election is uncontested with incumbent Bruce Thomson on the ballot unopposed.

The Flood Control Board of Directors is a political body in the Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority that is elected for six-year terms to work and set budgets for flood control projects in the City.

Thomson has served on the board since being elected in 2010 after working as a Professor of Civil Engineering and Director of University of New Mexico’s Water Resources Program until 2013. Currently, Thomson is a Research Professor and Professor Emeritus in the Civil Construction and Environmental Engineering Department at UNM, according to New Mexico Tech.

His work has focused on “the chemistry and treatment of metals and metalloids in water, water resources of the southwestern United States and the relationship between energy development and water resources,” according to New Mexico Tech.
