Sophomore Carl Stajduhar is running out of room for all the accolades rolling in from the 2016 campaign.
New Mexico’s third baseman can now add All-American to his resume, following his first team all-conference, MW triple crown, and the Mountain West Player of the Year award.
On Thursday, Stajduhar was appointed to the 2016 Louisville Slugger All-America Third Team due to his performance at the plate this year.
He has been labeled an All-American just a year following his conference freshman player of the year award in 2015.
Stajduhar ranks seventh in the nation with 160 total bases, 10th in the nation with 66 RBI’s, and 11th in long balls (18).
During conference play, Stajduhar hit .421, 39 RBI’s, and 11 home runs to claim the best in all three categories in the MW. The sophomore had the league-best slugging percentage with .746 in conference play.
Though not an accolade, Stajduhar’s game-winning walk off 2-RBI single booked UNM’s trip to regionals, where the club will take on DBU Friday at 5 p.m. MT.
