Head coach Bob Davie announced Wednesday night the suspensions of defensive backs Isaiah Brown and Markel Bryd for violating the team’s class attendance policy.
Both will miss Saturday’s game against Hawaii.
“I.B. Brown and Markel Byrd have been indefinitely suspended and will not play this weekend,” Davie said in a statement to the Albuquerque Journal. “We have a class attendance policy that both of these players chose not to follow. There was a pattern of showing up late and leaving early from class and we will not accept it.”
Brown and Bryd are key parts of UNM’s secondary. Brown is a starter at cornerback when healthy. Bryd has two interceptions on the season playing safety.
