New Mexico went back to the basics at Wyoming on Saturday.
The Lobos (2-2, 1-0 MW) rushed for 302 yards on 47 for and average of 6.4 yards per carry in a 38-28 win over the Cowboys (0-4).
It’s the first time since 2005 that UNM won its Mountain West opener.
Quarterback Lamar Jordan rushed 15 times for 147 yards, including a 56-yard run on the opening drive. Jordan had a solid day throwing the ball as well as he went 5 of 8 for 107 yards and a touchdown.
Running back Jhurell Pressley had a 103 rushing yards on 17 carries and a score. Richard McQuarley earned 55 rush yards and scored two touchdowns.
