Women’s Tennis
The New Mexico women’s tennis team did not need to wait to see if it would make the NCAA tournament after taking the Mountain West Championships in a 4-1 victory over Nevada on Sunday.
The Lobos will be taking on LSU after the team won its first ever Mountain West tournament title.
UNM will encounter a tough challenge facing off against No. 22-ranked LSU (19-10). The two are scheduled to play in the NCAA Tennis Championships in Lubbock, Texas, on either May 8 or 9.
UNM (16-9) enters the tournament for the ninth time in program history.
Men’s Tennis
New Mexico needed help to get into the NCAA tournament after falling to Boise State in the semifinals of the Mountain West Tennis Championships on Saturday.
UNM’s regular season MW title and tough non-conference schedule granted the Lobos an at-large-bid to the NCAA tournament. New Mexico has not made an appearance in the NCAA tournament since the 2009 season.
New Mexico (20-10) is slated to face off against Oklahoma State (16-9) in UNM’s 12th appearance in postseason play. The Lobos will begin the dual at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 8.
Samir Iftikhar is ranked 98th in the nation and will be accompanied by MW Freshman of the Year Bart van Leijsen.
Football
UNM will have three games televised on national television, the Mountain West announced Tuesday.

The Lobos home finale against Air Force on Nov. 28 and their road game at Boise State on Nov. 14 will be broadcasted by the ESPN family of networks. UNM’s home game versus Utah State on Nov. 7 will also be shown on CBS Sports Network.
UNM will now have four games televised this upcoming season, including its contest at Arizona State on Sept. 18.
