The struggle begins: wear a dress or shorts and risk being cold, or wear pants and resign to sweating in the afternoon.
Transitioning from summer clothing to fall clothing can be tricky, but the secret to a comfortable style during season changes is simple: layering.
Layering clothes allows for alternate styles as well as protection against weather changes. An example of layering would be to wear a sweater with an undershirt, a skirt/shorts under pants/jeans, and some ankle boots. Yes, ankle boots, because they can easily be transitioned from cold to hot weather changes, easy to put on and take off, plus they look cute with skirts/shorts and pants/jeans.
An alternative to a sweater can be a cardigan. Cardigans can be just as warm as sweaters, and they also show off a cool undershirt.
If you’re the athletic type, try wearing sweatpants with shorts or spandex underneath and a snapback to keep hair from frizzing when the potential for rain is on the horizon.
For a night out on the town, look party-ready by styling a dress with a leather jacket. The dress shows the sweet, girly, outgoing side, while the leather jacket adds a bit of fire to the vibe.
If a dress isn’t quite the right look, wear a crop top with a cardigan or leather jacket and some jeans. Crop tops look good with jeans because they create just enough balance of skin to show. Alternatives would be to try a maxi skirt with or without a slit and leggings. Leggings look good on all body types because they are super stretchy and can disguise so-called “problem areas.”
Transitioning clothing style from summer to fall can be tricky. It just takes a little imagination, some guts and a little bit of inspiration.
