News, events and getting involved with ASUNM

Greetings from the Executive Branch of the ASUNM Senate.

This is our first of many Daily Lobo columns this semester, designed to inform undergraduate Lobos of upcoming events, resolutions and other such special items being considered and executed by the student government.

Last week we saw two major events on campus: Red Rally and Fall Frenzy. After an active weekend in Las Cruces, our attention shifted to Homecoming.

Homecoming elections were on Wednesday, Sept. 24, and on Friday, Sept. 26, Jordan Dautenhahn and Sophie Salcedo were crowned king and queen, respectively.

The ASUNM Student Court is now accepting applications for associate justices. As there are limited positions, please submit your applications as soon as possible. For best consideration, applications should be turned in no later than Oct. 1. For more information, visit the ASUNM office on the lower level of the Student Union Building. For applications, visit asunm.unm.edu.

Last week the Steering and Rules committee approved Resolution 3F, which addresses the issue of the Lottery Scholarship solvency and, in its current form, does not establish a specific stance on the issue, pending discussion. Three appropriations have also been approved for discussion by the senate Finance Committee. Senate begins promptly at 6 p.m. in Lobo A&B in the SUB and is open to the public.

Hope to see you there!

David Ishmael

Director of Communications
