Powered by running back Kapri Bibbs’ 291 yards and six touchdowns, Colorado State defeated New Mexico 59-42 in the Lobos’ home finale at University Stadium.
Bibbs six scores tied the Mountain West Conference record for most rushing touchdowns in a single game. Nevada’s Stefphon Jefferson had six on Sept. 22, 2013.
“Defensively, I feel for our guys… It’s going to take time. The reality of what this is pretty apparent,” head coach Bob Davie said.
UNM quarterbacks Cole Gautsche and Clayton Mitchem combined to throw for 232 yards, completing 10 of 17 passes with two scores and interceptions. Gautsche threw those two costly picks at the end of the second quarter.
CSU (6-5, 4-2 MWC) signal-caller Garret Grayson completed 20 of 28 passes for 302 yards and three touchdowns.
With the loss, UNM (3-7, 1-5 MWC) is no longer eligible for a bowl berth.
