Monday on the street

On Tuesday, pro-choice activists protested what they said were recent initiatives by pro-life organizations in the city. How do you feel about a ban on abortions after the 20th week of pregnancy in Albuquerque?

Jonathan Romero
Business administration, freshman

“I don’t really know the rules out here for abortion because I’m from California. I don’t necessarily support abortion, but I believe that people should have the free will to do whatever they want. I believe once the sperm and egg meet, then that’s a life right there.”

*Enoch Endwarrior *
Political science, senior

“That’s tough because I’m not a woman. I’ve met women who’ve kept their child and women who’ve aborted their child, so it’s tough to say because I’m not a woman and I can’t make that decision.”

Alexandra Morant
Dual-credit student

“I think it’s okay. I’m not really super uptight about it, but I think if you want to get an abortion it’s totally cool. But after the first trimester it’s kind of screwed up.”

*Anja Barr *
Secondary education, senior

“The baby is already big enough by (20 weeks), but before that I don’t necessarily care. I think everybody should do what they want, but I think there’s a certain time when it’s too big.”

Lindsay Evans
International studies, freshman

“I agree with it. I’m religious, so I guess, obviously, I’m against abortion. I feel like (the ban) is appropriate after 20 weeks.”
