Daily Lobo: Why are you out here selling popcorn?
Xavier De Leon: Because this is a thing that I'm doing through my fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha. There's a group of young men that we tutor and mentor and help raise their scholastic standards. We play the part of their big brother in times of need. We meet with them about two to three times out of the month, and this help funds their trips, because we take them on trips. We went to Atlanta last year. This year, I think we're going to Denver.
DL: How often do you have to sell popcorn to raise money?
XD: Whenever we're in times of need, that's when we sell popcorn. And it's by Walker's Popcorn Co. - he's a pretty nice guy.
DL: The colored popcorn kind of frightens me.

XD: They're delicious, actually. Once you try it, you will be satisfied for the rest of your life. It's guaranteed.
DL: What is it? Why is it colored?
XD: They're different flavors. You've got some banana in there, and it's really good.
DL: What made you decide to get involved with the children?
XD: With being part of the fraternity, it's kind of required, but it's real fun to be impacting these kids' lives. Wait a minute. I have to make a sale. Popcorn. Delicious popcorn. Delivered by UFOs. You know why? Because this popcorn is out of the world once you take a bite of it.
DL: How long have you been out here?
XD: I've been here since 11:30 a.m.
DL: And you're here until when - until the sun goes down?
XD: Until about 2:30 p.m., until I've turned a couple of shades darker and my vocal chords have suffered enough damage. But that's fine. It's all for the kids.
