The provost selection committee announced its second candidate on Monday.
Suzanne Trager Ortega will visit campus Thursday and Friday for faculty, staff and student forums.
Julia Fulghum, chairwoman of the committee, said everyone is invited to attend the scheduled forums.
Ortega has been vice provost and dean of the graduate school at the University of Washington since 2005.
From 1980 to 2000, Ortega was a sociology professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She then worked as an administrator at the University of Missouri from 2000 to 2005.

She received a bachelor's degree in sociology from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn., in 1974.
She earned her master's and doctoral degrees in sociology at Vanderbilt University.
Ortega is also a finalist for provost positions at the University of Nevada-Reno, the University of Nebraska-Omaha and the University of Iowa, according to the schools' Web sites.
The search committee announced the first candidate, Tito Guerrero III, last week. Guerrero will visit campus and meet students from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. today in the SUB Fiesta Room.
