The Office of the President announced Thursday that Tito Guerrero III is a finalist for UNM's provost position.
Guerrero is the vice president and associate provost for diversity at Texas A&M University.
Guerrero will be on campus Monday and Tuesday for interviews, during which faculty, staff, students and the Board of Regents will meet with him, said Julia Fulghum, chairwoman of the provost search committee.
Students can meet him in the SUB Fiesta Room at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Guerrero earned his doctorate in education from Harvard University. From 2001 to 2006, he served as the president of Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas.
UNM spokeswoman Susan McKinsey said the search committee has not decided how many finalists there will be.

Fulghum said the committee will announce another finalist Monday. The finalist will visit campus next week.
"It's a rolling search," Fulghum said, "So, we're still evaluating some applications, but we probably won't be accepting new applications now."
Over the past month, the committee invited 12 candidates to confidential off-campus interviews, Fulghum said.
Three to five finalists will visit campus before a final decision is made, she said.
"The provost will be expected to immediately contribute to developing programs to improve undergraduate retention and graduation rates," Fulghum said. "He or she will also lead the preparation for our upcoming accreditation and work with the vice president of research to enhance research opportunities."
Fulghum said the search committee is looking for someone with substantive experience in academic administration, a broad understanding of how universities work and experience relevant for advancing UNM.
