Supreme Court suspends judge charged with fraud
SANTA FE (AP) - A newly elected municipal judge in Sunland Park is temporarily suspended without pay while prosecutors pursue a criminal case against him. The state Supreme Court ordered the suspension for Horacio Favela after a hearing. Favela is charged with a felony count of voter fraud for allegedly voting twice in the 2004 general election, once in Texas and once in New Mexico.
American Airlines cancels 200 flights for inspection
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - American Airlines canceled about 200 flights on Wednesday so its crews can inspect some wire bundles aboard its MD-80 aircraft. The cancelled flights represent less than 10 percent of the nation's biggest airline's scheduled service for the day.
Dubai warehouse catches fire after firework explosion
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) - A massive explosion at a fireworks warehouse sparked a raging fire that raced through an industrial zone in Dubai on Wednesday, killing at least two people. When the fire first erupted, ambulances and fire engines struggled to the scene through the city's dense morning rush hour, while helicopters hovered above the ruined warehouse in Dubai's al-Qouz Industrial Zone.
