Love is in the air - or at least members of the Black Student Union hope it will be today in the SUB.
BSU will have a speed dating event noon on
Wednesday in the SUB Ballroom. Participants will be required to register before the free event.
Ogechi Chibueze, president of the organization, said the event is for students to get to know each other.
"The atmosphere is a fun kind of flirty atmosphere," she said. "We are not seriously trying to make people date - it is just because it is Valentine's Day, and they can pick up a bunch of free stuff."
Students will line up at tables in rows of 10, and male students will rotate in two to five minute increments.

"It is a good even for people that are in a relationship," she said. "They can go and win prizes, but for people that are not in relationships, they can take the opportunity to go out, meet new people and mingle."
Chibueze said the event is part of the African-American Student Services calendar for Black History Month but was created to involve the entire student body.
"This is part of the Black History month calendar, but it is really just to lighten it up," she said. "We want to let them know that we are not just about African-American events, but we are about creating a great student environment for everyone."
Chibueze said the event is to promote BSU and the positive activities it has for students.
The organization works to provide student advisement for students involved in BSU, as well as counseling.
It also works with local high school students as part of an outreach program.
