Albuquerque Tribune publishes last issue
(AP) - The Albuquerque Tribune said goodbye Saturday to the city it has served for nearly nine decades. Eighteen editors, reporters and photographers hunkered down in front of computer screens to put out the last edition. Their final front-page headline read simply, "Good night, Albuquerque."
Ralph Nader announces bid for presidency
WASHINGTON (AP) - Ralph Nader is launching a third-party campaign for president. The consumer advocate made the announcement Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press." He says most Americans are disenchanted with the Democratic and Republican parties, and that none of the presidential contenders are addressing ways to stem corporate crime, Pentagon waste and promote labor rights.
Biofuel-powered commercial flight takes off
LONDON (AP) - The world's first commercial flight powered by biofuel has taken off from Heathrow Airport. The goal of Sunday's Virgin Atlantic jumbo jet test flight from London to the Netherlands was to show that biofuels can produce less carbon dioxide than normal jet fuels.
