A man reported that his ex-girlfriend might have posted fliers around campus with his image and personal information. The man's current girlfriend said she found similar fliers on her car and at work. The man said he has not had contact with his ex-girlfriend since April. He told police he didn't want to press charges but wanted the incident documented.
Jan. 24
A UNM Police officer went to Castetter Hall when someone called about a man drinking in a restroom. The man told the officer he was homeless. The officer said the man smelled like alcohol, appeared to be drunk and had an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and taken to the Albuquerque Police Transport Unit.
Jan. 25
A UNM Police officer went to UNM Hospital because a woman said her ex-boyfriend was harassing her. The woman told the officer that her ex-boyfriend had been trying to gain custody of their child. She said he went to UNM Hospital to see the child. After he was asked to leave, the man stole the baby's car seat and diaper bag and a hospital scale. After he left, the man sent the woman threatening text messages. The woman said she is concerned about her safety and the safety of her child.
Jan. 27
A UNM Police officer went to De Vargas Hall when someone reported a drunk man with bloody hands. The officer said the man smelled strongly of alcohol, had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, was unable to balance and had an unopened alcoholic beverage. The officer forcibly took the beverage from the man after he refused surrender it. The officer said he called for an ambulance because of the man's bloody hands. The man didn't want to go to the hospital and became angry. He was strapped into a gurney because he was combative with the officer and medical staff. The police officer rode in the ambulance to help restrain the man. After arriving at the hospital, the man tried to kick the officer. A warrant was issued for assault on a police officer.
