Staff Report
NMSU's mascot will go up in flames tonight as UNM gets ready for the football game this weekend against the Aggies.
"Burning a 19-foot-tall effigy of an Aggie on Johnson Field is pretty exciting," said Cate Wisdom, director of ASUNM's Lobo Spirit Committee. "If you don't like football, you can still come out and have fun at the event."
Red Rally, which drew about 1,000 people last year, begins at 8 p.m. on Johnson Field.
The giant Aggie will sit on a 10-foot-tall bonfire built by Physical Plant employees, Wisdom said.

"It's a huge rivalry," said Brianna Duncan, associate director of the committee. "It's better to get more people out and help the football team play better."
Duncan said the committee has worked on the Aggie since before school started.
Katherine Latimer, a freshman, said her first Red Rally will be an exciting one because she'll be competing in the Craziest Lobo competition.
"It's just the craziest you can get," she said. "You deck yourself out in mohawks and face paint and cherry and silver."
Latimer said school spirit is vital to a college.
It's up to the students to make Red Rally and the football game as much fun as they can, she said.
"The college wouldn't be here without the students," she said. "So, we might as well be all crazy."
