Staff report
The bicycle path that goes along the arroyo past G Lot into North Campus will be detoured for construction beginning this week.
People should be cautious while riding through the area, as there will be heavy traffic along the detour, said Larry Crum, electrical inspector for the Physical Plant Department.
"It's going to be nip and tuck with all this construction going on," he said. "We want people to be safe. We want them to come back tomorrow."
The construction is part of a $4 million project to update the electrical system that feeds into Lands West, the UNM property west of University Boulevard at Tucker Avenue, Crum said.

He said between 500 and 1,000 people take the route to UNM every day.
He said people should be patient during construction and take an extra minute or two to get to campus.
"It will be traffic-intense," he said. "We know it's not an ideal situation, but it is what it is."
