Joseph Garcia, president of GPSA, said he will advocate more graduate recruitment and greater efforts to retain students who pursue graduate studies.

One way to do that is to get affordable housing for graduate students, he said.

Garcia said he will also suggest an increase in the number of minority graduate students on campus.

To do that, he said he will recommend the allocation of $200,000 in recurring funds to employ graduate students to recruit minority undergraduates for graduate studies.

Ashley Fate, president of ASUNM, said she will advocate the completion of lighting on Johnson Field. Fate also wants the field renovated.

"ASUNM is advocating getting the whole field done," she said. "It will probably be pretty torn up after they put in the lighting."

Fate said she wants to increase the number of work-study jobs and up the salaries.

She said she will encourage Schmidly to improve and expand the activities offered by Recreational Services.

ASUNM also wants to establish a regular event for students to meet Schmidly in the SUB to ask him questions and voice concerns, Fate said.

What do you think?

Go to the ASUNM or GPSA office in the bottom level of the SUB and tell your student representatives what you want changed at UNM.
