Staff Report
Research isn't just for professors or graduate students.
Undergraduates should get practice researching and presenting their findings, said Marla Wyche-Hall, who helped coordinate this year's Undergraduate Research and Creativity Conference.
"It's important for undergraduates to have that experience," she said. "If they're going to be going into a professional field, it's good for them to be able to say that they've presented. If they're going to grad school, they should have some base in doing research."
The conference is in the SUB today from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

About 300 students are scheduled to show posters or give oral presentations.
"There are just so many topics," Wyche-Hall said. "If you are an observer, you will not get bored. I wouldn't want to be a judge - they're going to have a hard time."
Judges will award cash prizes, ranging from $100 to $400.
"Although experience is good, this is the real world," Wyche-Hall said. "Hopefully, the money will give students some extra incentive to do their best."
The conference includes presentations on gender roles in Jane Austen novels, childhood obesity and skin cancer.
There will also be performances by music and dance students.
The conference lets students do work they care about, she said.
"A lot of times, students don't get to do their passion," she said. "They'll just get an assignment, and that's what they have to do. They shouldn't have that problem here, because it's all voluntary."
