Daily Lobo: Where are you from?

Jay McAdams: New Hampshire.

DL: Why did you come

to UNM?

JM: It's cheaper than paying in-state tuition in New Hampshire.

DL: What would your major be if you weren't majoring in Earth and planetary sciences?

JM: Probably environmental sciences.

DL: What do you want to do when you graduate?

JM: I have no idea. Work, hopefully.

DL: What's the biggest difference between New Mexico and New Hampshire?

JM: Probably the climate. That's the big difference. It's warm here. It's not there.

DL: What about the people?

JM: They're about the same. I think they're nicer here than they are in New Hampshire. They're kind of stuck up.

DL: Where do you like to go on vacation?

JM: Warm places. The beach or some place like the mountains here in the summer.

DL: What did you do for spring break?

JM: Just hung out and worked.

DL: Where do you work?

JM: At Outdoor Creations. It's like a landscaping place.

DL: Do you commute to school?

JM: Yeah.

DL: What do you listen to on the radio while you drive?

JM: Usually the Peak or whatever 93.3 is.

DL: Is it a long drive?

JM: It's like 10 minutes.

DL: Do you get road rage?

JM: I try not to. People drive slow here.

DL: Compared to New

Hampshire?

JM: Yeah. It's kind of frustrating on the highway. People go 55 in the left lane.

DL: What's your favorite class you've taken so far?

JM: It's going to sound kind of lame, but petrology - it's one of the easiest classes.

DL: What did you like about it?

JM: Just the teacher.

DL: What's your favorite thing about UNM?

JM: The campus, I guess. It's a nice campus. It's big and green compared to the rest of the city.

DL: What's your favorite thing to do at UNM?

JM: Sleep. Relax by the Duck Pond or something like that, or just hang out.

DL: What do you do on the weekends?

JM: Go hiking.

DL: Where do you like to go hiking?

JM: Up in the Jemez or at Sandia Crest. Anywhere where there's trees.

DL: If you could change

something about UNM, what would it be?

JM: Make the athletics better.

DL: What sports do you follow?

JM: Football and basketball mostly.

DL: What do you think about the new men's basketball coach?

JM: I'm excited about it.

DL: You think he will make things better?

JM: Yeah. I hope so - bring in some new recruits, get J.R. Giddens under control.
