JF: It's pretty. There's not a lot of tall buildings, so you can see the landscape. It's pretty chill. It's not way crowded. So, there's not traffic all the time.
DL: Do you travel a lot?
JF: I've been places. I wouldn't say a lot.
DL: What's the most exciting place you've been to?
JF: Probably Honolulu, Hawaii.
DL: What did you like about it?
JF: It's the beach, the nightlife.
DL: Do you like the nightlife in Albuquerque?
JF: I don't know. It's hard to say. When you go on vacation, you can let loose - you know what I mean? - because you don't really know those people. Whereas, when you come back over here, you live here, and you don't want rumors and stuff spreading. So, you can't really let loose like elsewhere. I would say it's OK. I don't like Downtown. There's a lot of little kids over there. I think there's a different mentality from a 21-year-old to, like, mid-20s and even 30. It's just different. I used to go Downtown a lot when I was underage. So, when I go down there now, I'm like, "Nah."
DL: What's the craziest thing you've seen happen Downtown?
JF: I could tell you the funniest thing. It was crazy, but it was funny. There was this huge fight. Two guys just started duking it out, and a crowd just came and started joining the fight. This girl - I don't know why she tried to stop it, but she did, and she got smacked in the face. Then she rolled, and she rolled a few more times - I think to make it more dramatic.
DL: Why did you come to UNM?
JF: I didn't explore my options. I felt kind of rushed after high school, and I heard they had a good medical school here. So, I thought, "Well, I might as well just go there."
DL: If you could change anything about UNM, what would it be?
JF: Maybe how open professors are with the students. This is just me, though, and my insecurities. I feel like a lot of times I should have been able to go and ask for help and not really feel that the door was open, even though it was. It's not until now where I know my professors because I do research for them that I'm actually like, "Wow, why was I so scared all along to actually get help?"
