Dating
How long have you been dating?
Chavez: Not very long, maybe a month.
Buerkle: Yeah.
How did you meet?
Chavez: She was lost in Johnson (Center), and I helped her find her way out. She asked me how I get out of here, and I kind of showed her - helped her around. But I didn't (know) either, so we kind of found out way out together.
Buerkle: He said, "I know the way out," but he really didn't.
How did you ask her out?
Chavez: We just started hanging out a lot. We went on a date first, and then I asked her out.
Where did you grow up?
Buerkle: I have lived all over, because my dad is in the Air Force - England, Texas, here, Arkansas, Washington. A lot of different places.
Chavez: I am just from Oklahoma.
Why did you come here?
Chavez: I got a scholarship, and part of my family lives here. It was the Amigo Scholarship.
Buerkle: The Lottery (Scholarship).
What are the future plans?
Chavez: Get my bachelor's in mechanical engineering and my master's in aeronautical.
Buerkle: Yeah, you can get the master's in aeronautical.
Do you take classes together?
Chavez: No.
Buerkle: No.
Chavez: I think we are going to take a rock climbing class, I guess. That is what she says.
Buerkle: I want to take a rock climbing class and an
archery class.
What do you do together?
Chavez: We went ice skating this weekend for my first
time.
Buerkle: He fell. He kept bragging about how he wasn't falling, and then he finally fell. I laughed, and it was great.
Chavez: I am getting my piloting license this summer. You can do it with me if you want.
Buerkle: Maybe.
Is she a lot to keep up with?
Chavez: No, all we do is have fun all the time. I don't have to worry about anything. I can just be myself around her. She doesn't degrade me at all. She calls me stupid, but that is about all. I don't have to worry about saying stupid stuff and her getting mad at it.
Do you keep him in check?
Buerkle: Yeah, maybe. I am pretty chill - down to earth, I guess.
Chavez: She is pretty cool.
Buerkle: Oh, thanks.
Chavez: Yeah, I like her.
