Staff Report
Missing UNM Police officer Olga Valery was found Wednesday after a search and rescue team discovered her on a hiking trail at Wheeler Peak near Taos.
Valery, 35, was transported to Holy Cross Hospital to be examined and was released early Wednesday. She was disoriented from dehydration when she was found, said Lt. Pat Davis, spokesman for UNM Police Department.
It is still unclear why Valery went missing, Davis said.
Valery was reported missing after she did not show up to her evening shift on Monday, which was not like her, Davis said. A search and rescue mission was then coordinated after her vehicle was found at Wheeler Peak early Wednesday.

Before being discovered, Valery was last seen in Albuquerque on Friday, July 7, when she left for northern New Mexico for a weekend at Wheeler Peak, Davis said.
Valery has been with the department for a little under a year but has been an officer for several agencies in the past, Davis said.
