Noodles and sushi will be replacing smoothies this fall in the SUB.
Miso, which specializes in Oriental noodles and sushi, will be moving into the space Zia Juice occupied.
Walt Miller, director of the SUB, said Miso Noodles and Sushi should be open by August.
He said Miso was chosen after he heard students say they wanted healthier options in the SUB.
"Students can make their own lunch and have it cooked right in front of them in woks," Miller said. "They can also watch their sushi being prepared. It will be a combo of those two."
Student Reanna Cruz said Miso is a healthier alternative to hamburgers and deep-fried chicken.
"I like the idea of a noodle place," she said. "It's hard for students to keep a healthy diet."
Students wanting a smoothie will not have to go far. Zia Juice will be moving into the convenience store at the bookstore in the fall, Miller said.
He said Zia Juice was not as successful in the SUB as he hoped.
"In comparison to other universities in the nation, it wasn't as popular here as I thought it would be," he said.
Student Myrriah Chavez said she never went to Zia Juice.
"A noodle place would be much better," she said.

Bene Pizza and Pasta is also no longer open at the SUB. Miller said he doesn't know what will take its place yet.
"I thought it would be resolved by now, but it's back to the drawing board on that," he said.
Chavez said she went to Bene often but has another idea for the space.
"I would like to see a McDonald's again," she said, referring to the store in the old SUB. "It would be nice."
Chavez said even though there is a McDonald's on Yale Boulevard and Central Avenue, it would still be convenient.
Student Tim Crisler said he was not impressed with the pizza at Bene.
"UNM students know what good pizza is," he said. "Why not have a local business like Saggio's or Dion's?"
Student Vicky Tsui said the SUB needed an Italian place and would not mind if a chain pizzeria moved in.
"I don't like Pizza Hut, but I would eat there if it was something that I liked," she said.
This fall will also bring a Starbucks to Zimmerman Library, Miller said.
