At a candidate endorsement forum Tuesday, members of the ASUNM Senate slates said their first priority as student representatives will be to remedy UNM's parking problems by working with the administration.
However, members of the two slates said they differ in other objectives.
Brittany Jaeger, presidential candidate, said members of the Unite slate plan to focus on broader advertising for student events, community service and establishing a student section at The Pit.
Members of Unite will also try to establish a "dead week" before finals, where no new material or tests will be given.
Alex Hughes, presidential candidate for the Howl slate, said his slate's top priorities, after improving student parking, are making all CIRT pods open 24-hours a day, installing a wireless network around campus and extending the hours of Johnson Center.
Every member of both slates gave a prepared speech, answered
two randomly selected questions and answered questions from the audience.
Around 10 students showed up for the event.
They also discussed campus security, handicapped parking and creating a stronger connectionbetween ASUNM and the student population.
The slates are designed to group candidates with similar goals together
so students will have an idea which candidates to vote for even if they are not familiar with each individual candidate, said Craig Burgess, an ASUNM senate candidate. It is not necessary to vote for every candidate on a slate, he said.
