A man filed a report with UNM police claiming a fellow fraternity member physically assaulted him.
The man told police he was attending a fraternity-sponsored event on Sept. 19, 2004. When he returned home at 2 a.m., another member of the fraternity punched him in the face, according to the report. The man told police another member then joined in, and they both continued battering him.
According to the report, the man was advised to speak with the district attorney's office regarding charges.
Feb. 15
A woman contacted UNM police to report that someone poured a large amount of pepper on her vehicle's hood, causing damage to the engine and other mechanical items, a police report stated.
She told police she took her car to a mechanic who found pepper in the engine, the vents and the entire interior compartment. The woman said five pounds of pepper were removed from her car, according to the report. She told police she didn't have a monetary damage amount.
The report stated the woman did not know who could have committed the act, but would keep police advised.
The next day she reported to police she received a suspicious letter containing biblical quotes and the dictionary definition of "selfish."
She told police she did not know if the letter was connected to the pepper in her vehicle.

Feb. 16
A UNM police officer was dispatched to the Center for the Arts about a theft, a police report stated.
A woman told the officer an Indonesian musical instrument she owned was stolen. The instrument is shaped like a bowl and made of brass, the report stated. The woman told police the instrument was purchased locally for $25.
The report stated there are no witnesses or suspects.
Feb. 16
A University police officer was dispatched to the west side of The Pit when a TVI bus driver reported seeing a man who was bleeding from his face and head, a police report stated.
The driver told the officer she was parked when the man approached her and told her he was beat up. According to the report, he told her he was with two other men who started an argument with him and assaulted him.
The man told the officer that he was kicked in the head several times by the other men. UNM police later detained the two other men, and one of the men was taken into custody and booked into Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center, the report stated.
Feb. 16
A UNM police officer was dispatched to UNM Hospital about two disorderly subjects, a police report stated.
A security guard told the officer two people tried to leave the cafeteria without paying for their food. The report stated the individuals eventually paid for their food and were escorted to the security office.
Feb. 18
A University police officer was dispatched to the Basic Sciences Building about a possible theft, a police report stated.
The officer met with a man who said he discovered someone had broken into his office and removed two pieces of candy from the area. According to the report, there were no signs of forced entry.
The man told the officer he doesn't wish to prosecute.
