Worker at The Pit reports assault to UNMPD

A Pit worker filed a report with UNM police Jan 5. The complaint states a co-worker assaulted him with a broom handle.

The man reported he was the supervisor in charge of a cleaning crew that afternoon at The Pit. He told police his co-worker approached him and began yelling with a broom in his hand.

According to the report, he was struck with the broom handle in the neck, causing a minor injury. He did not press charges.

Library employee reports assault in computer area

UNM police officers were called to Zimmerman Library Jan. 18 when an employee claimed he was assaulted.

According to the police report, the employee said a man aggressively elbowed him when he was asked to leave the computer area.

He told police the man was playing games on the computer when the employee advised him the computers were for research and not games. The man became angry, flipped the employee's tie and elbowed him as he left, according to the police report.

Police called on suspicion of drug handoff at hospital

According to a police report, officers were dispatched to UNM Hospital on Jan. 18 after a man was seen handing a male prisoner in the emergency room a small plastic bag filled with what looked like marijuana.

No other details were available.

Suspicious man reported in computer lab

UNM police were dispatched to the SUB computer pod on Jan. 18 when a woman reported seeing a suspicious-looking man chatting online in a chat room designated for children, the police report stated.

The woman told police she couldn't see exactly what the man was typing. The man left the computer area before the police arrived, the report stated.

KUNM worker threatens to kill herself

While on patrol, a UNM officer was dispatched to the KUNM offices at 303 Girard Blvd. on Jan. 19.

According to the police report, an employee threatened to kill herself and KUNM's program director.

Two employees at KUNM filed the report. One of them said the subject has a history with mental and emotional problems and has been placed on administrative leave, the report stated.

Student reports stolen cell phone in SUB

A student reported a stolen cell phone to the UNM police department on Jan.19.

According to a written statement, she was on the third floor of the SUB when she left the area where she was studying in to get a drink of water. When she returned, her cell phone was missing. No one was spotted in the immediate area.

The case was closed when the student said she would not press charges if the offender was located.

Police respond to threat of violence at UNMH

UNMH contacted University police when a woman threatened to blow up the hospital and its staff Jan. 24.

When police arrived, the officers determined the threats were not real and were made out of frustration.
