The six projects in listed order are:
State Support for Research
The proposal asks for legislative funding in the amount of 1.5 percent of the previous year's research funding from grants and contracts.
"It is simply a mechanism that President Caldera wants to use to get the Legislature to recognize the research mission of institutions," said Curt Porter, UNM budget director.
He estimated UNM would receive $2.65 million next year if the program passes.

LambdaRail
UNM joined LambdaRail, Inc., a consortium of universities and technology companies developing a national super high-speed network for research in June.
UNM will pay $5 million over five years to participate. The Legislature funded the project with $1 million last session. Porter said the state has a lot of nonrecurring money this year, so UNM is asking for $4 million - the rest of the licensing fee.
Nursing Program Expansion
UNM is asking for about $1.5 million for the expansion of the nursing program.
Prenatal Outreach Program
The request calls for $319,000 to expand a program that works with high-risk pregnant women such as teenagers. The expansion would allow the program to work more around the state and have a larger presence in rural areas.
Law School Library
UNM is asking for $750,000 for an outreach program for the UNM Law School Library. Of that, $500,000 would be nonrecurring funds, and $250,000 is continuing funding to upgrade the library's collections.
Public Policy Institute
The last entry on the list is the creation of a public policy institute. No dollar amount was attached to the item.
Porter said Caldera is putting together something more concrete during the fall and will be ready to present it when the Legislature meets in January.
