You are looking at the best unpublished photos of 2003-04 taken by the Daily Lobo photo staff. Dozens of frames are shot for each assignment, but we only choose one or two - generally the images that complement the story the best.
Only a small percentage of the shots make it into the paper. While most photos are cut for technical reasons, some are cut to make way for images that accompany the article better.
Sometimes, the photos we cut have a more aesthetic or narrative value than the ones that make it when taken out of a newspaper context.
This is the first time we've put out the photo issue without taking submissions. Instead, we have chosen to highlight the imaginative eye of our staff.
Humorous and serious, the photos we are running today tell stories of their own.
