Suspicious highway death investigated by police
BERNALILLO, N.M. (AP) - State police have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a 23-year-old Albuquerque woman who was found along Interstate 25 near Bernalillo after either falling or being thrown from a car.
State Police Lt. Jimmy Glascock said 48-year-old Wally Garcia of Albuquerque, was arrested Monday morning and charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing great bodily hard or death.
"We're very happy that we were able to make an arrest in this case," he said. "We are nowhere near finished and leave open the possibility to make other arrests, but we feel this is a significant break for us."
Glascock said police have also found the gray sedan witnesses saw driving away from Sandra May's body Friday afternoon.

Kerry prepared in case of another recount
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) - John Kerry is determined not to lose Florida's 27 electoral votes in a swamp of recounts and recriminations this fall, vowing to mount an early legal challenge in any district that might repeat the problems that bedeviled Democratic supporters in 2000. "Not only do we want a record level of turnout to vote, we want to guarantee that every vote is counted," the presumptive Democratic nominee told about 500 people at a town hall meeting Monday.
