UNM officials say the success of the Lobo Club's partnership with Creamland Dairies has convinced them to consider other possible future alliances with local businesses.
Darren Dunn, associate athletic director in charge of corporate development, said the University's deal with Creamland, while successful, is nothing new.
He said five years ago the University attempted a similar marketing partnership with Garduos, and collaboratively created a "Lobo Salsa" to be served at the Mexican restaurant's chains in the state.
Dunn said the deal was soon scrapped, though, because of a lack of public support.
Jada Lucey-Martinez, executive director of UNM's Lobo Club, a University organization dedicated to raising money for athletic scholarships and the University's many sports-related programs, said UNM is considering a partnership with Sysco Foods and the Frontier Restaurant.
For every pound of coffee the Frontier purchased from Sysco, a portion of the generated proceeds would be donated to the Lobo Club, to be injected into the scholarship program, she said.
