Bush visits Roswell, discusses war in Iraq
ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) - President Bush enjoyed a dose of southeastern New Mexico hospitality, a friendly crowd and pork ribs during a stop in this Republican-friendly town Thursday.
Billed as an official speech to drive home the themes of Tuesday's State of the Union Address, Bush's appearance at the Roswell civic center felt more like a pep rally as more than 1,800 military cadets, law enforcement officers and local residents punctuated his remarks with frequent applause and cheers.
Thursday's visit concluded a two-day, three-state swing that began in Ohio and passed through Arizona.

NASA loses contact with Mars rover on 19th day
PASADENA, Calif. (AP) - NASA's Spirit rover has stopped transmitting data from Mars in an ominous turn that baffled engineers and sent them scrambling Thursday to figure out what brought the mission to a potentially calamitous halt. NASA received its last significant data from the unmanned Spirit early Wednesday, its 19th day on the surface of Mars. Since then, the six-wheeled vehicle has sent either random, meaningless radio noise or simple beeps acknowledging it has received commands from Earth.
Sharon will not resign despite allegations
JERUSALEM (AP) - Ariel Sharon said Thursday he will not resign as prime minister, despite corruption allegations and the looming possibility he could be indicted in the coming weeks.
A real estate developer was indicted Wednesday on charges of bribing Sharon with $690,000, and Justice Ministry officials said they would decide within weeks or months whether to indict the prime minister for accepting bribes. Such charges would only be filed if prosecutors are convinced Sharon had criminal intent.
